Despite not really needing to use an antivirus in Linux, it is not a bad idea to prevent your system from inadvertently becoming a carrier by using these programs. Show notes: tinyurl.com

I think Likely a Windows virus that happened to exist (dormant) on your Linux install. But still cool!
avast removed a virus i had on linux
I think Cool stuff.
have hear that if u happen to gth a unix virus on linux, certain companies, (McAfee) does actually provide a unix command propt anti virus scanner. Not impossible to get a virus on linux, but sometimes better safer than sorry.
I think u dont need it for ubuntu
I think the command for clam is
gksudo clamtk
not gtksudo
are you being serious? it is free
huurahh my fav antivirus in ubuntu!!(avast)
I think It causes bandwidth-hogging!
locker-gnome? grrr….
I think thx for the vid! I didnt know there was avast for linux ..
Must protect Ubuntu from Swine Flu!
I used avast on my previous pc, and I’m worried that they won’t let you put the free edition on more than 1 pc that you own. Is that true?
I think AVAST FTW
I think does avast or clamav have real-time scanning?
Er, no, you are blatently wrong. Linux uses the Linux Kernel, which is Unix Based, Mac uses a butchered BSD kernel, BSD is unix-like, but it TOTALLY different to linux.
I think Ok, you lost your bet. Now get all of the 10 million youtubers a damn beer!
actually he was right, i heard there are about 10 known viruses for unix, 40 for mac, 40 for linux, and about 100,000+ for windows. also, linux and mac are NOT based on the same kernel, thats why mac’s kernel is at 10 and linux is at 2.6. they both adopted the same concepts as BSD and unix but legally they can’t use the same kernel. to be based on something means its brached off.
oh no sorry wrong video, but i did download avast on ubuntu and installed it but i cant find it lol, where does it save? thanks
What about it? Did you have a specific question?
what about avast?
no, you cant. stop talking about things you know nothing of.
both linux and mac os are based on the same kernel, so when i see a virus typing sudo or getting root permissions, ill buy a beer for each and everyone one of you on youtube.
uhh even a mac needs an antivirus there harder to get with linux or mac but u still can
the guy specifically says in the video that antivirus in linux is geared more toward protecting your windows partitions, local or network. and there are viruses for linux but so little that they aren’t worth mentioning and you’d have to be stupid to get them
